| when you are starting in 2nd ---your asking the clutch to get 3600lbs moving from a dead stop---in large diesel trucks where the gearing is so close between 1st and 2nd you practically always start in second only because 1st is for starting up a hill or when your carrying a lot of weight (i.e. I used to drive 26ft moving trucks and only used 1st when I was loaded up) Gas cars are not the same...I remember my syncros went out in 1st gear in a Chevy Sprint once and my clutch lasted about 2 weeks starting in 2nd
